Boston-based Mally Skok (our April cover star) looked to a more personal aspect of the past to define the future. “It’s an homage to my mummy,” the South African-born designer explains of her table, draped in Skok’s Emmie fabric, named for her mother. “My 87-year-old mother proves you can’t waste a moment—don’t worry about the future, just enjoy your time in the present.” And, by 8 o’clock that evening, as guests dined, danced, and raised some $900,000 for Lenox Hill Neighborhood House, that’s just what they did.
